NM FAST — New Mexico Federally Assisted Support & Training

NM FAST is a free statewide program managed by Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University, supported by the New Mexico Economic Development Department. We help New Mexico startups and small businesses navigate the SBIR/STTR federal funding process — from your first proposal to Phase II commercialization.

Whether you're just learning about SBIR/STTR or working toward your next award, NM FAST connects you with expert coaching, workshops, accelerator programming, and funding resources — all at no cost.

Our program focuses on New Mexico's priority sectors: Advanced Computing, Bioscience, Advanced Energy, and Aerospace.

Frequently Asked Questions

NM FAST is open to New Mexico-based small businesses and startups working on innovations in Advanced Computing, Bioscience, Advanced Energy, or Aerospace. You do not need prior SBIR/STTR experience to apply.
No. All NM FAST services — including workshops, one-on-one sessions, accelerator programming, and resource access — are completely free to eligible New Mexico companies.
The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are federal funding programs that provide grants to small businesses for research and development with commercial potential. Awards range from $50,000 (Phase I) to over $1 million (Phase II).
NM FAST provides ongoing support throughout the year. Specific programs like the ACSA Accelerator run for 5–12 weeks, while services like one-on-one sessions and office hours are available quarterly or weekly.
